HOW TO WINBOX REGISTER IN MALAYSIA WITH A SHARED DEVICE
You found this page because you want to create a Winbox account in Malaysia, but you’re using a computer or phone that other people also use. Maybe it’s a family laptop, a friend’s tablet, or a public computer at a cybercafe. You’re worried about privacy, security, or just making sure your account stays yours. That’s smart. This guide is written for you—someone who has never done this before and wants clear, step-by-step help.
Let’s start from the very beginning. No confusing terms. No skipping steps. Just what you need to know, in order, so you can register safely and keep your account secure even on a shared device.

WHAT IS WINBOX?
Winbox is a small, fast program used to manage MikroTik routers. Think of a router like the traffic cop of your internet. It decides where data goes—like which device gets Wi-Fi, how fast it goes, and who can access what. Winbox is the tool that lets you talk to that traffic cop.
In Malaysia, Winbox is often used by:
– Small business owners who set up their own Wi-Fi
– Tech-savvy home users who want more control over their internet
– Students or freelancers learning about networking
– People who manage internet setups for friends or family
You don’t need to be an IT expert to use Winbox. But you do need to register an account if you want to save settings, connect remotely, or use certain features. That’s what we’re focusing on here.

WHY REGISTER ON A SHARED DEVICE IS TRICKY
When you use a shared device—like a computer at home that your siblings or parents also use—you run into a few risks:
1. Someone else might accidentally delete your account.
2. Your login details could be saved in the browser or app, letting others log in as you.
3. If you don’t log out properly, the next person could access your settings.
4. Cookies or cached data might remember your password.
This guide will show you how to register safely, even on a device that isn’t yours. We’ll cover how to protect your account, log out properly, and avoid leaving traces behind.

STEP 1: GET WINBOX ONTO THE SHARED DEVICE
Before you can register, you need the Winbox program itself.
Winbox is not an app you download from the App Store or Google Play. It’s a small program you download directly from MikroTik’s website. Here’s how:
1. Open a web browser (like Chrome, Firefox, or Edge).
2. Go to https://mikrotik.com/download.
3. Look for the section called “Winbox”. It’s usually near the top.
4. Click the download link for the latest version. It’s a small file, usually under 10MB.
5. Once downloaded, open the file. It doesn’t need installation—it runs directly.
Think of Winbox like a portable tool. You can even put it on a USB drive and carry it with you. That’s useful if you’re using a public computer.
—
STEP 2: OPEN WINBOX AND FIND THE REGISTER OPTION
When you open Winbox for the first time, you’ll see a window with a few fields:
– Connect To: (this is for router IP, ignore for now)
– Login: (blank)
– Password: (blank)
– [ ] Keep Password (unchecked by default)
At the bottom, you’ll see buttons like “Connect”, “Neighbors”, and “…” (three dots). Click the three dots. A small menu will pop up. Look for “Register” or “Create Account”. This is where you start making your own account.
If you don’t see “Register”, don’t worry. Some versions of winbox app don’t show it directly. In that case, you’ll need to register through the MikroTik website first. We’ll cover that in the next step.

STEP 3: REGISTER THROUGH MIKROTIK’S WEBSITE (IF NEEDED)
If Winbox doesn’t let you register directly, you’ll need to create an account on MikroTik’s website. Here’s how:
1. Open a web browser and go to https://mikrotik.com.
2. At the top right, click “Login”.
3. Below the login fields, click “Create new account”.
4. Fill in your details:
– Username: Pick something unique. Don’t use your real name if you want privacy.
– Email: Use a real email you have access to. This is where MikroTik will send a verification link.
– Password: Make it strong. Use a mix of letters, numbers, and symbols. Don’t use “password123”.
– Confirm Password: Type it again.
5. Check the box to agree to the terms (read them if you want, but most people skip).
6. Click “Create Account”.
Now, check your email. MikroTik will send you a link to verify your account. Click it.
